Johnny Jump Ups and 'Georgia Blue' Veronica

I've been watching my Johnny Jump Up Pansies bloom all through the winter. They were especially cool (literally) when they came up through the snow as happy as can be. Now that spring is almost here the pretty blooms of 'Georgia Blue' Veronica have decided to join the group. I wanted a drift of warm into cool and for the most part I think it worked.

This blog is still alive, I promise! I've let some 'Kodak moments' slip by already. There is too much on my plate right now. Between redecorating my kitchen bedroom and dining room and putting in a brick patio I haven't had a chance to capture images. I keep running for the camera when the sun is already down. Now that we have an extra daylight hour, I'll be more diligent.

February Snow Storm 2010

What a beautiful snowstorm we had! It was record breaking as well. I took photos in the day and at night. These were taken the day of. Snow kept falling through the night so what you see here is not the 'best' of it. I felt like I was in Santa Fe!

Estes Park, Colorado

Rocky Mountain National Park

I just got back from spending time with my family in Estes Park, Colorado. It was magnificent! The mountains were not completely covered with snow, making the the contrast between the sienna colored rocks striking.

As the new year begins and the old is behind us, I thought it would be a good time to look over my 'reject' photos. These are photos for one reason or another I didn't feel compelled to include in my blog. We just came of of a three day freeze, so it's nice to see color, at least in my photos!

foliage of Rose 'Caldwell Pink'

One of my newest roses 'Caldwell Pink,' performed like gangbusters this past season. It even out bloomed Knock-Out! The flowers are a light to medium pink that fade to mauve. They are minature in size but there are so many of them in bloom the bush is covered with color. The neatest thing I discovered is that in the winter the foliage is amazing. It turns all shades of orange, bronze, and maroon. This photo was taken the day after our 'White Christmas.'

White Christmas

There hasn't been a Christmas with snow in Dallas/Fort Worth since 1926. That means if you are 83 and you were here, it was your second experience. Wow!
